What is bird net?
Bird netting is a knotted or knotless mesh made from high-density polyethylene that has been stabilised against ultraviolet light. That last part matters far more than most buyers realise: unstabilised polyethylene in Delhi NCR sun begins to chalk within a year and can be torn by hand within two.

Choosing the right mesh
Mesh aperture is chosen by the smallest bird you need to exclude, not the largest. If sparrows are getting in, a 50 mm mesh is decorative. Work down to the smallest species present and specify for that.
Twine thickness governs strength and lifespan. Thin twine is cheaper and easier to tension but abrades faster where it passes over a wire or a concrete edge. For most residential work a knotted mesh in the 1.0 – 1.4 mm range is the right balance; commercial spans warrant heavier.

What Bird Net Costs
Netting is sold per square foot and the rate is driven by mesh size, twine thickness and colour. As a rule, a heavier twine in a smaller aperture costs more per square foot but less per year of service. When comparing quotes, insist on twine thickness and confirmation of UV stabilisation in writing — a rate alone tells you nothing.

Match it to the smallest bird you want to exclude. 19 mm for sparrows and small birds, 25 mm for pigeons, 50 mm for crows and larger species. If several are present, specify for the smallest — a smaller mesh always excludes the larger bird as well.
Properly UV-stabilised HDPE gives roughly eight to ten years of outdoor service in Delhi NCR conditions before it needs replacing. Nets without adequate stabiliser commonly fail within two to three years, which is why the cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest outcome.
HDPE does not absorb water and the mesh is open, so rain passes straight through. What matters is tension — a slack net can pool debris and hold water weight, which is why we set and check tension at installation.
Black typically has the highest carbon content and therefore the best UV resistance, so it tends to outlast lighter colours. Transparent and off-white are less visible from inside; the practical difference in lifespan is modest when both are properly stabilised.
We are primarily an installation company, because in our experience the anchoring and edge sealing decide whether a net works — not the mesh. A well-made net badly fixed will fail, and birds find the one unsealed corner within days.
